You've Been Booed!

Does your neighborhood Boo each other?  Not sure even what that means?  Read on...I am sure you will be excited too BOO too!

I'd always wanted to live in a neighborhood that booed each other, so I was beyond thrilled when we opened the front door of our new home one October morning to discover a plastic pumpkin packed full of treats and goodies for my kiddos. Attached was a note instructing us to place a "We've Been Booed" sign in our front window (so as to alert the other neighbors that we had already been booed) and to pack up our own basket of goodies along with a copy of the sign and deliver them secretly to another neighbor who hadn't been booed yet.

My girls were SO excited to sneak
around the neighborhood after dark to deliver our treats to unsuspecting friends. The best part was watching how far the "Boo" spread up and down the street, around the block, and even over to the next neighborhood area. Signs popped up on every window, and kids eagerly chatted and tried to guess who had booed who.  It's such a fun tradition and one my girls look forward to every fall.

Today, just for our amazing Cool Progeny readers, I have included all the instructions to get you started as well as FREE printables I designed that you can just copy and use with your goodies.  Now get out there and BOO!  Your neighbors are going to love it!

Only One More Week........

Wow, where has this summer gone?  In the beginning of the summer, I had the girls booked in camps, events, programs everyday.  But as the days started, I realized that all I really wanted to do was spend time with my girls.  The twins, Preslee and Mason are starting kindergarten this year and my youngest, Finley will be in half day pre-school, 3/days a week.  This is all new to me, my kids being gone all day for school.  The whole experience is bittersweet.  For the first time in 5 1/2 years, I am going to have a few hours a day, all.by.myself.....I know I will find tons to do, but I am so going to miss my girls.  Their squeals, giggles, playing princess, shopping, the mid-day cuddles on the sofa.  Do you think their teachers would mind if I popped in for a mid-day hug if I miss them too much?

Last year, we hosted a Back to School Bash for the girls and all their friends as a kick off to preschool.  This year, I have to admit, time has gotten away from me.  So, when we get back from the beach, I am going to have their favorite type of party, a tea party.  We are having a back to school tea party.  Complete with all their favorites, chocolate cake, cold milk and strawberries.  I have planned a fun scavenger hunt for all of their school supplies and their adorable personalized lunch boxes!  Stay tuned for pics!

But in the mean time, as we are all planning on getting our kids back to school, here is a FREE printable for all my awesome fans!  Thanks so much for supporting Cupcakes and Lemonade.  We have had an awesome start to 2012 and I am looking forward to sharing lots of fun designs with you!

Just click, print, cut and pack a fun little message to your sweeties!

Back to School Bash

I am so excited to start planning our Back to School Bash!  It has extra special meaning this year because it's Preslee and Mason's first year of kindergarten.  So many of their little friends are going to be taking the big step to elementary school and I want to do something special to celebrate them.  In the mean time, enjoy some pics of our bash last year.  The kids had such a great time!

Instead of doing desserts, I had all kinds of fun school supply favors for the kids to take home.

Time for our "cafeteria" lunch.  Ham sandwiches, apple slices and goldfish

After lunch, it was craft time.  Each child had their own wooden initial to paint and decorate!

 They were so creative!

I hope they are always this excited about going back to school!

Little Lemonade Party

I LOVE sharing my talented customer's party pictures.  It's so much fun to see just how creative they can be with the party goods that I design for them.  Several months ago, I had the pleasure of working with such a fun Mommy who loves throwing amazing parties as much as I do.  It was her adorable daughter Avery's first birthday and she wanted the party to be just as cute as Avery is.

She sent out our Lemonade Stand invite to set the tone for the party. We decided to add glitter to the lemons and the flowers across the top of the stand for that extra pop!  While Kim worked on building the cutest lemonade stand for Avery, I designed a custom  banner, favor tags, stickers, a smash cake topper and high chair banner.
Isn't this the cutest thing ever?

All set up for the birthday girl!

Such a sweet party!  Thanks so much Kim.  LOVED working with you.  Happy Birthday Avery!

Ultimate Birthday Guide

A few months ago, I opened my inbox to the most excited email from Heather at Cool Progeny.  She had seen the girls Shabby Chic Cowgirl Party and after squealing at all the sweet compliments she had about the party, I was able to finish reading her email.  She asked me if I was interested in becoming part of the creative team behind Cool Progeny.

Free Father's Day Printables

My girls think of their Daddy as their prince, their Super Hero.  It was only fitting that we make him the perfect Super Hero gift for Father's Day.  So, we made a quick trip to Target gathered some of his favorite treats and put together our very own box of supplies from the Super Hero Supply Company.     With lots of inspiration from Pinterest, I designed some super cute labels and below you will find a link to download everything you need to put together your very own care package.   All you need to do is print, grab a pair of scissors and some glue and you are all set.

Super Hero Treat Basket

Supplies:
Box or basket of your choice
Various treat bags-we found ours at Michaels or you can even use ziplocs
Your Super Heros favorite treats
Downloadable labels
Either tape or glue.  I printed some of my labels on adhesive paper

1) Buy Dad's favorite treats.  We used Gatorade, BBQ chips, a Hershey Bar, Nerds (he loves these) and various other munchies that we transferred to bags

2) Using our downloadable file, print the labels on card stock or adhesive labels

3) Cut out the label shapes using scissors or paper cutter

4) Adhere the labels to the bags

5) Tuck them all in your basket or gift box, and get ready to surprise your Super Hero on Father's Day!  Give him the energy to fight tantrums and save the world, one meltdown at a time.

Summer Celebration

I am FINALLY getting around to posting pics of our Super Fun Summer Party last year.  6 kiddos with Winter Birthdays=a reason to have a party!  WARNING! LOTS OF PICS!

for those of you who know me, you know i love to throw parties. i could find a reason or occasion to have a party everyday, but i am SURE that drew wouldn't approve so, i won't even go there. our next door neighbors have three boys and we have three girls, all the same ages. we often jokingly call ourselves the "brady bunch".

all 6 kids have winter birthdays. we have joked that we are "so envious" of all the fun summer birthday parties we see online and wish we could just have a popsicle eating, pool party, slip n slide kind of party for our 6 in the backyard. so the half birthday idea was born!

we set the tone for the party with this invitation that i designed.

what a fun day it was! we rented a GIANT waterslide bounce house, had tons of great foods, a lemonade stand sweets bar and fun favors for the kids. the biggest surprise came after lunch! the snow ball truck drove right up into the yard! the line was so long as kids and grownups enjoyed it all!

The reason we had this party!

Countdown to Christmas Breakfast

I love making memories for my kids.  I have so many fond memories of little things my parents did for my sister and I growing up.  Those are the things that make childhood so special.  Those, "I remember my mom always did this" moments.  So, this year, after TOTAL inspiration from Jessica, at Little Pumpkin Grace, I decided we had to have our First Annual Countdown to Christmas Breakfast.  We did it the day after Thanksgiving and it was a fun way to bring out Apple, our Elf on the Shelf.

We had powdered donuts and hot cocoa with "snowballs".  The kids were in heaven.  Apple wrote each of the kiddos their own personal note, reminding them to be extra good because she was watching for Santa.  She brought a few treats too!

LOVE, LOVE these sweet little faces!

Christmas Catch Up

How is it that the holidays have already passed?  I feel like this year was the fastest Christmas ever!  Every year, we host two big parties, our kids Christmas party and the girls birthday party in January.  I look forward to these two parties all year long.  They are so much fun to plan and even more fun to attend.

Last year we did a Crafty Christmas Party with lots of fun Christmas Crafts for the kids so this year, I decided to switch it up some and do a Breakfast with Santa.  The kids all came in PJ's and Santa was with us all morning.

My invite set the tone for the whole morning.  I LOVE vintage and when I found this little Santa, I knew he would make the whole theme!

Pinterest was a wealth of inspiration for party ideas! We had milk and cookies, a hot cocoa bar and lots of fun finger food type breakfast treats for the kids and moms!

I think the most special part of the day was the looks on the kids faces when Santa walked in.  They couldn't believe it. I had a little gift for him to pass out to each child and then they had tons of time for photos.

Was a fun day for everyone and a tradition we will do every year!  (Even Momma got her pic with Santa)
